Stand-alone NVQs are available for employees of all ages, but are recommended for those over the age of 25, whom it is expected will have prior experience in the workplace. They are competency-based awards that reflect the core skills, knowledge and understanding underpin
a job role. Support can also be given with Basic Skills, such as literacy and numeracy, to those who require it.
