Employability

It can be daunting not knowing where to start when you are looking for work but JHP Employability gives you practical advice and support to structure the process.

Industry Research

An essential stage in looking for employment is to recognise the areas that you would like to work in. Your advisor will work with you to identify your relevant skills and experience and discuss your options.

Job Search

There are many different ways to look for work and JHP Employability gives you access to the resources you need including newspapers, the internet and our network of employer vacancies. Your advisor will support your search by giving advice on how to use the resources to find jobs suitable for your skills and experience.

Transferable Skills

If you have been unemployed for some time or have little work experience, it can be easy to assume you have few relevant skills to offer a potential employer. Your advisor will work with you to identify transferable skills that you have acquired through activities including parenting, hobbies and sports.

Work Ethic

Employers are looking for more than skills - having a good work ethic can help when looking for employment. The qualities of a good work ethic include responsibility, determination, focus, punctuality and commitment which can all be developed by following techniques discussed with your Advisor.

CV Writing

Writing a CV is the essential first step when job searching - it is your chance to demonstrate what you can offer to a prospective employer. Your Advisor will work with you to develop your CV so that you present your skills and experience in the best way to achieve your goals.

Application Forms

Some employers will require you to fill in a specific application form for their vacancies. This is generally your first contact with the employer and requires as much attention to detail as your CV. Your advisor will work with you to maximise the opportunity and make your application stand out from the crowd.

Interviews

An interview is the final step before moving into work but it is also the most daunting. Your Advisor will help you prepare for the interview by researching the employer and vacancy with you, practising questions and advising on interview techniques. Support can even be given with clothing and transport costs if necessary to give you the best possible chance of success.
